PROJECT 17-1-91

1991

STUDY FOR AN INSTALLATION

Project 1/17/1991 relates to the historical event at the beginning of the first Gulf War. The work consists of three "protective jumps" with 480 sacks filled with copper sulfate crystals. The bags are transparent and contain 25kg of material, a total of 12,000kg. One element consists of 160 bags and has the following dimensions: height 170 cm, width 260 cm, depth 490 cm. The work was designed at the invitation of the Lower Saxony Representation in Bonn. The then head of the agency, Jürgen Trittin, of the Green Party, personally blocked the realization of the work at the last moment for ideological reasons.
